Conference Information

Our keynote speaker; Prof Denise Tate was the keynote for the virtual conference about Decision Making About Living with SCI Complications: Pre-Post COVID-19 Clinical and Research Implications.

With an expert Panel: Dr Carrie Pilarski & Tom Hoatlin.

ESPA in common with conferences and networks across the world moved to a virtual format in 2021.  We were keen to keep the uniqueness of the ESPA family alive so changed our format to include a live poster Question & Answer session, a mixture of pre-recorded keynotes and interview with live panel session, film, and some fantastic breakout room conversations!

We were delighted to welcome a broader range of people interested in psychological wellbeing for people with spinal cord injury and were joined by 70 delegates from a range of nations:  Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Wales, and from our 'host' nation Ireland, where we hope to be in person in a year!

The virtual format helped with the accessibility of the conference both in terms of attendance and enabling the recordings to be subtitled which helped the majority of the ESPA community for whom English is their second (or third) language.
